The first day of our 2015 festival, Live’n’Local, will start by going back in time!

Saturday, October 10 will find us in the terrific company of the History Magpie, Rachael Hale, for a morning workshop in the Guildhall Museum.

Inspired by the museum’s wonderful collection of artefacts. Rachael will guide you in finding hidden treasures whose stories are waiting to be told and helping you tell them creatively.

Rachael has been a fan of quirky facts and strange stories since she stuck her head up a chimney as a child to see the bread oven. Her love of historical homes, people and places has grown ever since and she’s a regular history and literary writer for Kent Life magazine. When not fighting deadlines or working on her non-fiction book, Rachael loves exploring dusty old buildings, hiding in museums, drinking hot chocolate and writing posts for her Kent history blog, The History Magpie.

  7. […] The Saturday programme is full of workshops and talks perfect for history fans and I’m absolutely thrilled to be running a creative writing workshop in the Guildhall Museum in Rochester between 10am and 12 noon.  I’ve been busy taking photos and arranging to borrow a few of the more tactile pieces from the museum’s collection for you to get your hands on and I hope the morning will inspire you to use objects as prompts for your own writing. The session is suitable for both fiction and non-fiction writers and I would love to see you there. (Cue sales pitch – tickets are £5 each and you can find further info here :)) […]
